Garden design

Designed for the South. Made for the way you live.

Our approach starts underground. Everything visible above the mulch line is a consequence of decisions made about soil, drainage, and structure first.

Design principles

Six things we never skip

01

The soil answers first

Before a plant is chosen we test drainage and read the clay. Percolation, grade, and root-zone depth decide what is even possible. Most failed Southern plantings are a drainage problem wearing a plant-selection costume.

02

Structure before flower

A garden should look composed in February. We set evergreen bones — hedges, spheres, upright forms — so the bed reads as designed even when nothing is blooming.

03

Three layers, always

Something holding shape, something blooming, something spilling over the edge. That layering is what separates a designed border from a row of shrubs.

04

Proven in Zone 8

Every plant on our schedules has performed through a Georgia August. We would rather use a shorter list of reliable material than a long list of hopeful ones.

05

Sequenced to bloom

We map bloom windows across the year so there is never a dead month. Bulbs hand off to perennials, perennials to shrubs, shrubs to foliage colour.

06

Built for the care you'll give

An honest design accounts for how much time you actually have. We specify to the maintenance rhythm you can keep, not the one that photographs best.

The process

From first walk to first bloom

  1. 01

    Consultation

A walk of the property, a read on light and drainage, and an honest scope conversation.

  2. 02

    Site study

Measurement, soil assessment, sun mapping, and a review of what stays.

  3. 03

    Design

A scaled planting plan with a full plant schedule and bloom sequencing.

  4. 04

    Review

We walk the plan together and revise once before it is finalised.

  5. 05

    Sourcing

Plant material specified and sourced from growers we trust.

  6. 06

    Install & handoff

Coordination with the install crew, then written care notes by season.
