Question 1

Where does Southern Clay work?

Accepted Answer

We work mostly in Columbia County and Richmond County, Georgia. However, working outside our operating area would be on a case-by-case basis. Send us an email at info@southernclayco.com for more information.

Question 2

Do you install the gardens you design?

Accepted Answer

We are a design studio first. We produce the plan, source the plant material, and coordinate with a vetted install crew — either ours or one you already trust.

Question 3

How long does a design take?

Accepted Answer

A single flower bed design typically takes 1-2 weeks from the site visit to the final plan. Full property designs run 4-6 weeks depending on the scope and survey needs.

Question 4

Why does Georgia clay matter so much?

Accepted Answer

Dense clay holds water at the root zone and then bakes hard in summer. Most failed plantings in the South are a drainage problem wearing a plant-selection costume. Every design we produce starts with a soil and drainage read.

Question 5

What is Zone 8 and why do you mention it?

Accepted Answer

USDA Hardiness Zone 8 describes our winter low temperatures, but the harder constraint here is the combination of heat, humidity, and disease pressure from June through September. We select plant material that performs in that window, not just on a nursery tag.

Question 6

Can you work with plants I already have?

Accepted Answer

Often, yes. Established shrubs and trees are worth keeping when they are healthy and correctly sited. We will tell you plainly when something needs to move or go.

Question 7

What does a garden design cost?

Accepted Answer

Flower bed designs start at $1,199 and full property garden designs at $2,499. Plant material and installation are quoted separately once the plan is approved.

Question 8

Do you require a deposit?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Design work begins after a signed proposal and a 50% deposit, with the balance due at final plan delivery.
