The work
A Ferns-and-Mums with pumpkins, squash, and gourds that carries the entrance from September through the holidays.
Seasonal work should not mean starting over four times a year. We designed a container set with permanent evergreen anchors and swapped only the seasonal layer, which cut the client's fall install to a single afternoon.
The challenge
What we walked into
Fall décor that keeps its edge from September through the holidays without a full seasonal redo — and a front entrance exposed to the first frost of the season.
Our approach
How we planted it
We planted permanent evergreen anchors in the container set — ferns and loropetalum — then designed a swappable top layer of mums, pumpkins, squash and trailing morning glory for the seasonal story.
The result
How it lives now
The fall install took a single afternoon, the anchors carry straight into winter greens, and the client's entry keeps its polished look for months instead of weeks.
Built for Georgia clay
Every planting on this project was chosen for Zone 8 — the heat, humidity and heavy red clay that gardens from Grovetown to Augusta share. If your yard has the same conditions, the same palette can work for you.
